Rotary Fellowship Program 2013-18

The Rotary Club of Richmond traditionally supports one organization per year with a major grant in the area of $25,000 to make a significant impact in operations or capacity building. For the Club's 100th anniversary in 2013, with the support of Rotary Club of Richmond Foundation Fund, we decided to make a $150,000 centennial celebration grant payable over multiple years.  The program concluded in 2018 with the last group of recipients listed below.

Working with Partnership For the Future, the Club, and several member organizations, have provided paid summer internships to students who will be first generation college students.  During each of their three years in the program, the students complete a seven-week internship four days a week, and on Fridays participate in career readiness workshops at the Virginia Commonwealth University.  Through the internships the students gain valuable workplace job skills and are mentored by caring adults.

Five of the students are in their third and final summer of the program and will each receive a $2,000 scholarship from the Club for their college tuition.  Two of the students are entering their first summer of the program and will be with us through 2018.

At the conclusion of our commitment to these students the Club will have completed its $150,000 pledge of support to Partnership For the Future to provide this incredible opportunity to area youth.
