Dr. Allia Carter, VP for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs, Virginia Union University
Dr. Allia L. Carter has served as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at Virginia Union University (VUU) since October 2, 2017.
Dr. Carter oversees Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Housing and Residence Life, Campus Police, Counseling Services, Health Center, Student Activities & Leadership, Student Integrity & Conduct/Student Conduct & Community Standards, Career Services and Center for Student and Community Development for Virginia Union University.
Prior to this role, Dr. Carter served as the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Undergraduate Studies at Bethune-Cookman University. As Vice President of Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) since January 2016, Dr. Carter was responsible for supervising two divisions Enrollment Management and the College of Undergraduate Students. Under Dr. Carter’s leadership, B-CU reached its highest enrollment since its inception in 1904, realizing a retention rate of 67%, and increasing tuition revenues by 40%.
Before being named Vice President, Dr. Carter served as the Chief Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Officer at Darton State College in Albany, GA where she oversaw a division of 76 full-time employees. She has also served as the Director of Academic Outreach for the College of Education and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Education Administration/Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. In this role, she was responsible for strategic enrollment management planning and overseeing college-wide recruitment, retention, communication, and outreach.
Dr. Allia L. Carter earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Siena Heights College, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Higher Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Educational Administration and Supervision from Bowling Green State University.
