Freddy Mejia is the Deputy Director of Policy at The Commonwealth Institute

Freddy plays a key role in the development and execution of TCI’s policy, advocacy, and legislative engagement work.  Freddy leads TCI’s health policy and immigrant justice work. He has partnered with organizations and community members to advance policies related to maternal health, removing barriers to Medicaid for immigrant communities, making ACA marketplace health coverage more accessible and affordable in Virginia, and helped develop a strong and inclusive Paid and Family Medical Leave proposal in the state. He graduated in the 2022 class of the Minority Political Leadership Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
