Nelson Calisch, former mental health therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor
Nelson Calisch is a native of Richmond, Virginia and a former mental health therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. Nelson retired from Henrico County Mental Health in 2017, where he specialized in treating adolescents in substance abuse and conducting mental health evaluations for the Juvenile court system. Nelson earned his master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1975 and returned there to enroll in history classes at the time of his retirement.
It is his love of history that motivated him to assemble a collection of his grandmother’s diaries, chronicling three of the most important decades in our nation’s history. His grandmother, Edith Lindeman Calisch, was the entertainment editor for the Richmond Times Dispatch during this era, and a successful songwriter in the ensuing years. The diaries were recently published and are currently available on Amazon.
